Lesson Plan Ideas

Students can use what we call a Gizmo (online simulations that power inquiry and understanding) to compare numbers on a number line. You can change values by dragging points on the number line. Compare the opposites and absolute values of the numbers.

Students can learn about other countries by using the interent to look up information about a country their group is assigned to. They can have the freedom to explore the web (and look at websites that a teacher provides) to work on their project. This activity not only gives students the information they need to research a country but also allows them to work on their internet/computer skills as well. It can help them discover how to look up things on the internet and decide what website are good to use and what are not.

Students can use a computer activity to explore symmetry, pattern, rotation and reflection, area and charateritics of 2-D shapes. This helps students explore mathematical ideas and relationships that cannot be explored in the same way with physical materials
