3rd Grade Science: Almost anything is science, you can have children play with simple toys such as slinkys, ech-a-sketch, and so on, and just have the students discover how the toys works. Most toys are simple, like legos, but others involve some thought, such as a magic eight ball. Most children play with these toys of know of them, and this is just adding knowledge on top of that.
1st grade math: When I was younger, the activity that taught me the most was mental math relay races. It's as simple as getting the class divided into 2-3 teams, and just having mental math problems followed by simple relay type activities, like eating an oreo, drawing something on the board, or flipping the light switch. First one to get the problem right and do the activity gets a point for his team. Competition fuels learning at a young age, so I say roll with it.
5th Grade Science: Rock identification is very easy to learn and most children enjoy rocks. Teach the basic concepts of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Use flow charts and identification charts to have students start to classify samples of rocks. This involves some set up, but in the end teaches a lot.
